Holds a Ph.D. in Medicine from Sun Yat-sen University, completed postdoctoral research at Harvard University, and was a Senior Visiting Scholar at the Cleveland Clinic. Research Focus:
Primary research areas include the molecular biology of colorectal cancer and the relationship between gut microbiota and intestinal inflammation. First to identify the deletion site of the FHIT gene in colorectal cancer and propose that gut bacteria are essential for the recovery of intestinal inflammation. Actively promotes early screening, diagnosis, and treatment of colorectal cancer in Guangzhou, completing the largest number of colorectal cancer screening cases in Guangdong Province. Pioneered the establishment of a three-tiered early screening network involving medical institutions, district CDC centers, and community health service centers, known as the "Guangzhou Model." Among the earliest in China to explore single-port laparoscopic and single-port +1 laparoscopic colorectal surgeries, and the first internationally to explore double-glove single-port taTME surgery, while also proposing a simplified taTME technique.
Research Achievements:
Led or co-led 16 national, provincial, and municipal research projects. Published over 100 SCI-indexed academic papers, including more than 30 as first or corresponding author. Research results have been awarded the First Prize of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, the Second Prize of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, and the First Prize of Guangzhou Municipal Science and Technology Progress Award. Authored Tumor Microecology and contributed to Surgical Treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Principles of Mesenteric Anatomy in Gastrointestinal Surgery: Fundamentals and Clinical Applications, Cleveland Clinic Colorectal Surgery Techniques, and Shackelford’s Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, Volume 4: Colon, Rectum, and Anus. Invited to deliver over 30 keynote speeches at domestic and international academic conferences. Holds five patents.
