Doctoral Supervisor, Second-Level Professor. He serves as the Chair of the Academic Committee of Guangzhou Medical University, Dean of the School of Public Health, Secretary of the General Party Branch, and Director of the Institute of Chemical Carcinogenesis. He is also the Director of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Environmental Carcinogenesis in Universities and the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Environmental Carcinogenesis in Medicine, as well as the Head of the Environmental Pollution and Respiratory Diseases Research Division at the State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Diseases. He is the leading figure of the Guangdong Provincial Key Discipline of Health Toxicology. He founded the Epigenetic Toxicology Committee of the Chinese Society of Toxicology and serves as its Chair. He holds multiple leadership roles in professional organizations, including Council Member of the Asian Society of Toxicology, Executive Council Member of the Chinese Society of Toxicology, Vice Chair of the Health Toxicology Branch of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, Vice Chair of the Industrial Toxicology Committee of the Chinese Society of Toxicology, Executive Council Member of the Chinese Environmental Mutagen Society, and Vice Chair of the Carcinogenesis Committee of the Chinese Environmental Mutagen Society. He has been awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award in Toxicology by the Chinese Society of Toxicology. He is also the Vice Chair of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Public Health and Preventive Medicine in Guangdong Province.
He is an expert selected for the National Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Talents Project, a National Expert with Outstanding Contributions in Middle Age, and an expert receiving the State Council Special Allowance. He serves as a second-round review expert for the National Natural Science Foundation of China in the Medical and Chemical Sciences Divisions. He is a nationally key talent in the Guangdong Provincial "Thousand, Hundred, Ten" Talent Project, an Outstanding Expert among Guangzhou's High-Level Talents, and a talent in Guangzhou's "Lingnan Elite Project." He has been recognized as an Outstanding Communist Party Member in the Guangdong Education System and an Outstanding Communist Party Member in Guangzhou's "Excellence and Innovation" campaign.
He serves as an Associate Editor for the internationally authoritative journal "Toxicological Sciences" and as a reviewer for over 10 internationally renowned SCI-indexed journals, including "Coordination Chemistry Reviews", "International Journal of Cancer", "Environmental Science & Technology", and "Carcinogenesis". His research primarily focuses on environmental chemical carcinogenesis, molecular toxicology, molecular etiology of cancer, and early diagnosis and prevention. As the principal investigator, he has led 40 research projects, including 2 key projects and 8 general projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 sub-project of the National 973 Program, 3 key projects from the Guangdong Natural Science Foundation, 4 major and high-level talent projects from Guangdong universities, and 1 chief scientist project under Guangzhou's Yangcheng Scholars Program. In recent years, he has conducted innovative research on the non-coding RNA mechanisms and biomarkers of environmental chemical carcinogenesis. As a corresponding author, he has published over 60 SCI papers in top-tier and renowned international journals such as "Molecular Cancer", "Advanced Science", "Environment International", "Oncogene", "Environmental Science & Technology", and "Archives of Toxicology". His research findings have been presented as keynote or invited speeches at major international and domestic academic conferences, including the International Congress of Toxicology, the Asian Congress of Toxicology, the Chinese Society of Toxicology Annual Meeting, and the Chinese Environmental Mutagen Society Annual Meeting, where he also served as session chair, garnering widespread influence in the field.
As the first author, he has received the Second Prize for Scientific Research Achievements from the Ministry of Education, the Second Prize for Guangdong Provincial Scientific and Technological Achievements (twice), the First Prize for Guangzhou Municipal Scientific and Technological Achievements, and the Scientific and Technological Achievement Award from the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the national graduate textbook "Molecular Toxicology" (Second Edition, People's Medical Publishing House) and the national undergraduate textbook "Fundamentals of Toxicology" (Second Edition, Science Press). Additionally, he has co-authored or contributed to 14 national textbooks and monographs. He teaches multiple courses for doctoral, master's, and undergraduate students, including Preventive Medicine, Toxicology, Environmental Health, Introduction to Medical Research, and Advanced Molecular Biology. He has supervised 67 postdoctoral fellows, doctoral students, and master's students, with many of his students receiving Guangdong Provincial Outstanding Thesis Awards and presenting at national academic conferences, where they have won awards for excellent presentations or papers. He emphasizes the integration of research and teaching, achieving outstanding results in fostering innovative thinking and capabilities among undergraduate students.
