医学博士、管理学博士，教授、主任医师，普通外科学科带头人，国务院政府特殊津贴专家，博士生导师，广东省人大代表，曾任广州市第一人民医院院长、广州消化疾病中心主任、华南理工大学医学院副院长、华南理工大学消化疾病研究所所长。从事普通外科临床和科研工作二十余年，对普外常见病以及疑难疾病尤其是消化道肿瘤的诊治有丰富的临床经验，擅长胃肠疾病的手术治疗及腹腔镜在胃肠外科的应用。兼任国家消化道 早癌防治中心聪明成员单位首席专家、广东省医学会副会长、广东省医师协会副会长、广东省医院协会副会长、广东省医学会结直肠肛门外科学分会副主任委员、广州市医学会普通外科学分会主任委员、《中华胃肠的外科杂志》编委等多项社会团体职务。工作主要围绕结直肠癌的交易所业务不同基础研究进行，在结直肠癌的分子学发生机制方面取得突出成就，在广州地区结直肠癌社区早期筛查及干预的流行病学研究也取得了重要成绩。近十年共主持国家、卫生部、省市立项课题10余项，在国内外学术期刊上发表消化道 肿瘤相关论著60余篇，其中以通讯作者在Nature Communications等SCI收录杂志发表论文30余篇，荣获卫生部省市科技进步奖8项。由于工作成绩突出，2009年荣获“广州市劳动模范”称号，2010年获得广东省五一劳动奖章，2011年获得全国五一劳动奖章，2011年获得首届广州医师奖，2013年荣获“广东省医院优秀院长”称号，2014年及2018年两次获得“中国优秀医院院长”称号，2015年获得中国医院院长“创新成就奖”，2016年荣获第十届“中国医师奖”。

Formerly served as the President of Guangzhou First People's Hospital, Director of Guangzhou Digestive Diseases Center, Vice Dean of the School of Medicine at South China University of Technology, and Director of the Digestive Diseases Research Institute at South China University of Technology. With over 20 years of experience in clinical and research work in general surgery, he has extensive expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of common and complex diseases, particularly gastrointestinal tumors. He specializes in surgical treatments for gastrointestinal diseases and the application of laparoscopy in gastrointestinal surgery.
He holds multiple leadership roles in professional organizations, including Chief Expert at the National Early Cancer Prevention and Treatment Center for Digestive Tract, Vice President of the Guangdong Medical Association, Vice President of the Guangdong Medical Doctor Association, Vice President of the Guangdong Hospital Association, Vice Chair of the Colorectal and Anal Surgery Branch of the Guangdong Medical Association, Chair of the General Surgery Branch of the Guangzhou Medical Association, and Editorial Board Member of the "Chinese Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery".
His research primarily focuses on the molecular mechanisms of colorectal cancer and has achieved significant breakthroughs in this field. He has also made notable contributions to epidemiological studies on early community screening and intervention for colorectal cancer in the Guangzhou region. Over the past decade, he has led more than 10 national, ministerial, and provincial research projects and has published over 60 academic papers on gastrointestinal tumors, including more than 30 as a corresponding author in SCI-indexed journals such as "Nature Communications". He has received 8 awards for scientific and technological progress from the Ministry of Health and provincial/municipal governments.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he was awarded the title of "Model Worker of Guangzhou" in 2009, the Guangdong May 1st Labor Medal in 2010, the National May 1st Labor Medal in 2011, the inaugural Guangzhou Physician Award in 2011, the title of "Outstanding Hospital President of Guangdong Province" in 2013, the "Outstanding Hospital President of China" award twice in 2014 and 2018, the "Innovation Achievement Award" for Chinese Hospital Presidents in 2015, and the 10th "Chinese Physician Award" in 2016.
