Professor Level II in the Department of Pharmacology at Zhongshan University School of Medicine, Doctoral Supervisor, Director of the Guangdong Key Laboratory of Brain Function and Brain Diseases, Director of the Proteomics Research Center at Zhongshan University School of Medicine, and Director of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Proteomics in Translational Medicine.

Long-term research in pharmacology and molecular neurobiology, focusing on neuronal apoptosis and its signal transduction, mechanisms and new therapeutic targets for Parkinson's disease, and proteomics. His research is significant for revealing the essence of neurodegenerative diseases and identifying drug targets, thereby effectively preventing and treating these diseases.

Has received over twenty grants including key projects from the National Natural Science Foundation, the Major Scientific and Technological Special Project for "Significant New Drugs Development," the "973" Program, the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (Category B), the Joint Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Guangdong Provincial Government, the Key Areas Research and Development Program of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and the Guangdong Natural Science Foundation Team Project. Notably, in 2018, secured two major projects: the National Natural Science Foundation-Guangdong Joint Fund Integration Project (U1801681, 11.8 million RMB) and the Guangdong Provincial Key Areas Research and Development Program "Brain Science and Brain-Like Research" Special Project (2018B030337001, 44.8 million RMB).

Established the first proteomics research center in Guangdong Province, which has long been engaged in translational medical research, benefiting over 180 clinical projects. Leveraging this platform, Professor Li applied for and obtained the "Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Proteomics in Translational Medicine" in 2011, filling the gap of lacking a key laboratory in the national key discipline of pharmacology at Zhongshan University. The Proteomics Research Center is located on the 10th floor of the Hemutai Building. For more details, visit http://proteomics.sysu.edu.cn/.

In recent years, has published over 40 SCI papers, including 30 as the first or corresponding author in international core journals such as J Neurosci, Mol Cell Biol, J Biol Chem, Cell Death Differ, Proteomics, and Neuropharmacology, and has published related review articles in Drug News Perspect.

As the primary contributor, won the First Prize of the Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Award (Ministry of Education) in 2011 and the First Prize of the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Award in 2011.
